Anna McRay is a pianist, teacher, and collaborator with a vibrant accompanying schedule of both classical and musical theater repertoire. Along with her accompanying, Anna fosters a deeply rooted passion for the intersection of arts and well-being, both in regards to the health of performing artists and in terms of leveraging the arts in all its forms to create and sustain healthy populations and communities.
After receiving her M.M. in Collaborative Piano from Florida State University in 2018, she moved to Winston-Salem to pursue a graduate certificate in Injury Preventive Keyboard Technique from Salem College. During her time at FSU, Anna served as pianist for various opera productions including the mainstage production of La Traviata in 2016, the FSU Student Opera Society’s production of Mozart’s Der Schauspieldirektor in 2017, and the FSU Opera Outreach production of Seymour Barab’s Little Red Riding Hood in 2018.
Anna has also worked as a vocal accompanist and coach at the Tennessee Governor’s School for the Arts, the Georgia State University Harrower Opera Workshop, and the Seagle Music Colony in upstate New York. In 2022, Anna completed a graduate certificate in Arts in Public Health from the University of Florida’s Center for Arts in Medicine. She currently serves as the pianist at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Winston-Salem, NC and is employed as a staff pianist/coach for the award-winning School of Drama at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and for the Wake Forest University’s Department of Music.
